Bueng Khong Long Lake

After exploring Phu Tok or visiting Phu Sing, a cool down in fresh water is welcome and most become hungry at that time; this is why we always recommend our guests to go to the waterfalls or this Long Lake……
Bueng Khong Long lake is a massive fresh water reservoir built in 1976 and finished in 1979 by late King Rama IV and the Royal Thai Irrigation Department. In 1981 Bueng Khong Long Lake has been registered as a wetlands area of international ranking. The 13 km long and 2 km wide lake has an approximate size of 24 square km and is considered a major eco-tourism site.
The lake attracts water sports enthusiast, fishermen and nature loving people; seems that at the north of the peninsula you have access to a “close to nature area” with picknick places, birdwatch places and view on the red lotus. At the south-west part of the lake you find lot of small food stalls and water sport gear rental shops. In one of the many lakeside restaurants you can rest and eat, and enter the water as wished.
Because the Lake is whole year accessible, it is a good place to go after a visit of Phu Tok or Phu Sing during the period November till April as alternative for the waterfalls what have hardly water in this time of the year. Relax, Swim, Eat.
Ask your host for more information and do not forget your towel when you go (the small stalls sell plenty of swimming attributes in case you did forget it)
